Born on the June
11, 1984, Pim started with aviation photography in 1998 at Rotterdam Airport, not far
from Rozenburg, where he lives. Soon after this the hobby expanded to abroad,
starting with the Tactical
Leadership Program courses at Florennes. The Mildenhall Air Fete of 2001 was the first UK
Airshow he
visited, soon followed by the Royal
International Air Tattoo 2001 at RAF Cottesmore. Besides aviation
photography
Pim also loves to go out and shoot other pictures, like animals and
nature.
Pim has studied Mechanical
Engineering in Rotterdam,
and
worked as a trainee at
Woensdrecht Air Base during the winter of 2002/2003, updating weapon systems for the Royal
Netherlands Air Force F-16's. After finishing this study he decided
to start studying Aviation
Operations at the ROC of Amsterdam Airport, located in Hoofddorp, near Amsterdam Airport
Schiphol,
which he finished in June 2009.
Pim now works at Rotterdam Airport as an Airport Operations Officer.
In April 2003 Pim decided
to start publishing photos on the internet. He started a simple website
showcasing his own, scanned aviation
photos.
After a few months he decided to move to a .com domain, and started aviaphotos.com. The website has
gone through many changes.
After a few years he encountered some problems with the hosting service and he decided to
create a
new website called Pim Hesse Photography.
